Biotechnology

Biotechnology is a very important field these days. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Biotechnology. We have most talented faculty and state-of-the-art labs, with complete facilities, where students get first hand experience. The students of M.Sc. are assigned independent projects during the summer vacation. All this experience helps them to find suitable placement in industry and institutes in India and abroad. The department is working on a research project worth Rs. 10 lacs, sponsored by the Directorate of Forensic Sciences.

Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics, a new discipline combining Biology and Information Technology (IT) involves using computer science and IT to handle biological information. The area broadly deals with collection, storage, classification and analysis of biological data. Bioinformatics can be applied to all areas of life sciences, including plant and animal sciences. Currently it is mostly biologists opting for bioinformatics. However, graduates of computer science who are willing to learn biology make best bioinformatics professionals.

We have been offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the discipline of Bioinformatics since year 2005. Trained students would find employment opportunities as tech support in the R & D division of biotech and pharmaceutical companies. They can also work as researchers, scientists, database specialists, programmers, business analysts in diverse organizations present in India or abroad.
