About Library

Library, the heart of the Institution, has been striving to accomplish the academic and other objectives of the college. It is a multi sectional, reader friendly, library providing knowledge and information based services. It is a Sanctum Sanctorum of learning process which aims at making every reader a well informed citizen. Keeping well in pace with the progressive changes in Information Technology, Library is equipped with Computer and Communication networks connecting 8 computers with One Server through LAN. We’ve been using SOUL Software for automation of the In-house operations of the Library as well as for providing.

Sections of the Library

Ground Floor

Circulation section has been established on the Ground Floor of the Library from where the readers can get their books issued and returned. There are well laid norms for issuing books to the students and faculty members. Books are issued and returned using Bar Code Scanner.

Technical Section

This section deals with technical treatment of reading material. It enjoys proper infrastructure which includes Catalogue Cabinets having catalogue cards which are arranged alphabetically with both author and title are merged together. Separate catalogue cabinets have also been maintained for Hindi as well as Punjabi books. One computer is kept exclusively for the readers for accessing the books online (OPAC).

Library is using 22nd edition of DDC for the Classification of books. All the books have been bar-coded using separate software.

Stack Area

It is well stalked and flexible to accommodate the incoming reading and research material on various faculties. Hall mark of the Stack Area is its Open Access to facilitate the readers. We update it from time to time in keeping with the introduction of various Post Graduate and Under Graduate courses. It covers a wide range of faculties from Humanities to Bio-technology / Bio-informatics.

Binding Section

To ensure the timely availability of damaged books, a functional binding section is there at the disposal of the readers.

Reading Room

A spacious air-conditioned outer reading hall with the seating capacity of 75 readers too is the part of the Ground Floor of the Library Building. We provide conductive atmosphere to the students for reading their personal books. It is kept open for longer hours during the examination days.

Property Counter

To ensure the safety of belongings of the readers, property counter is also there where they are supposed to keep their belongs like bags before entering the Library. Proper safety of the Library books is maintained at the Gate itself by subjecting them to proper check.

First Floor

First Floor of the Library houses Reference and Textbook Sections. It is our Endeavor to update them with the latest Gadgets and reading material. Reference Section is well equipped with all possible reference material ranging from Encyclopedias on various faculties to Yearbooks and Books for Competitive examinations like CAT, IAS, and CDS/NDA etc.

Textbook section is well maintained with one or two copies of the titles on various subjects. From this section one can get the required material Xeroxed only.

2nd Floor

Periodical Section

The entire Second Floor of the Library is devoted to the Periodical Section. Multi faculty Journals, knowledge based and general magazines, newspapers in various languages, good collection of the Biographies and Autobiographies form the part of the Periodical Section of the Library.
