Our Toppers in Sports

College students are required to take part in games regularly. Ample provision exists on the college campus for various games and sports. The college participates in tournaments of Cricket, Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Gymnastics, Yoga, Athletics ,Judo, Boxing, Cross Country, Relay races, Ball Badminton, Rowing, Water Polo, Wrestling, Shooting, Softball, Squash Racquet, Archery, Basketball, Swimming, Netball, Chess, Power lifting, Best Physique, Cycling, Kayaking, Canoeing and Handball.

Sportsmen of outstanding merit are granted handsome concessions.

The sportsmen are expected to establish healthy traditions regarding dress, behaviour and attitude.

Sports Facilities

All latest physical education literature and equipment are available with Department of Physical Education of the College. The following physical facilities are available.

13 stations multipurpose Gymnasium for Conditioning.

One Volleyball field

Gymnasium hall with all the apparatus.

Two Table Tennis Tables.

A football ground.

One Kho-Kho Court.

Floodlit Basketball Court.

One Softball field

Two badminton Courts.

One Cricket field

One handball field.

 

In addition to the above, the following facilities are made available to the students in different disciplines .

a.)    Athletics :Sports Complex, Sector 46, Chandigarh and Phase-VI, Mohali.

b.)    Badminton : P. U. Gymnasium.

c.)    Body Building : Bon' Sante, Sector 17, Chandigarh and College Multi Gym.

d.)    Boxing : Sports Complex, Sector 46, Chandigarh.

e.)    Judo : Judo Hall, Sector42,Chandigarh.

f.)     LawnTennis : CLTA Stadium,Sector 10, Chandigarh.

g.)    Swimming: Panjab University Swimming Pool.

h.)    Table Tennis : Table Tennis Hall, Sector 23, Chandigarh.

i)      Wrestling: Dara Studio, Mohali.

The college also arranges services of professional coaches from Sports Authority of India/Chandigarh Sports Department for various sports.

Incentives to Sportsmen

a)  Sports stipends

b)  Sports talent scholarship (given by UT Administration and NIS, Patiala)

c)  Rs. 500/- each is paid to 60 students who excel in sports, every year

d)  40 sportsmen get free hostel accommodation, 15 sportsmen get free mess facility

e)  200 students get fee concession

f)   Outstanding students are awarded College Colours / Roll of Honour.

g)    g)  A running trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 2100/- is awarded to the best sportsman of the year.

           This  scholarship has been donated by Principal S. Marriya in memory of his reverend mother.

h)   Sports Authority of India Scholarships.

i)    Special quota of seats for admission is reserved for sportsmen
